Hmm... it's been almost 2 months since the "major" wedding preparations! And another 2.5 months more to the big day!


For a while, we were slacking and lazing as there wasn't much urgency in the tasks needed. Frankly, sometimes we are lost as to what to prepare! Well, let me just update the checklist.

And of course, the most major thing is renovation and design concept for the HOUSE... well, it's gonna be minimalist minimalist minimalist... meaning clean lines with less clutter, etc. Anyways, so exciting, finally can get keys and transform the house into OUR home. YIPEE!

Choosing wedding gowns

Now, the fun part to choose wedding gowns has arrived! I had 5 gowns to choose from and there were so so so so many styles and colours to choose from.

On the first appointment, I spent close to 6 hours at the bridal studio trying on. My brother, mum. aunt and cousin were there with me and Jon. Good to have more opinions.

In the end, we settled on the outdoor outfits but I just felt the indoor gowns were not 'quite there yet'. Maybe I was a perfectionist but the gowns had to fit my height, figure, skin tone and each gown had to be different from each other in terms of design and colour.

The second appointment was a week later. Again, spent nearly 5 hours choosing though the last 2 hours were choosing his suits. :) This time it was just me and Jon. I overhauled my initial choice of the indoor gowns haha! However I kept the outdoor ones.

In conclusion, I am very satisfied with my choices and I love my gowns and look!

Sometime in Nov and Dec 2009, we were sourcing for bridal studios and I spent alot time researching online before shortlisting these:

• French Bridal
• Di Gio
• Golden Horse Awards
• Rico-A-Mona
• Thomson Wedding Collection
• Bridal Concept

We had a bad experience being chased by 90% of the bridal studios at Marina Square and during a bridal exhibition before we decided that we should split up and go and check the packages and gowns alone. So went to most of these places above on a Saturday afternoon. Managed to only cover French Bridal, Rico-A-Mona, Golden Horse Awards. He covered Thomson Wedding Collection and was given a strange look on why the groom was the one looking at the bridal packages, haha!

Finally settled on Golden Horse Awards (GHA). The name sounds really "cheena" but it fufilled my requirements of good photography (and layout design/ album) as well as a broad selection of gowns (many different styles). The best part that inked that deal was that the coordinator was quite nice and not pushy at all and that they had this new gown design for 2010 which they said I could wear it for my wedding. She even entertained me when I requested to look at their gowns. So I looked from first floor to second floor and it was my 2nd visit to GHA (visited the Marina Square branch and then the Yishun branch). Basically just felt comfortable with their photography styles, experience and variety.

Brought Jon on the 3rd visit and yes, again, I had 'itchy fingers', I went to look at their gowns while he looked through their albums.  They still entertained us happily so we decided to sign up in the end!

Wedding photo shoot locations

We were sourcing for locations to take photos the past 2 months. Tiring but fun process and we discovered new places! :)

The list of places included:

• Telok Ayer - Ann Siang Hill
• Pinnacle @ Duxton
• Labrador Park
• Portsdown road (the black & white colonial bungalows and Colbar)
• Hortpark
• Museums
• Henderson wave bridge
• Gilman village

Finally narrowed down on 3 locations in blue (though the bridal studio said 2, haha!) that were popular with couples but we had seriously hoped the photographer could do something different. (and he had some creative and funny shots! We even posed with a vintage Beetle... I think it's a Beetle anyway)

Mode of wedding

It’s been some weeks/ months since we started on planning and researching and discussing for the wedding. Now there are about five months left to the Actual Day! Haha..

Well, intensive preparation is more suited to us as I find that over a year or more, it is kind of draggy. Of course, a shorter time period means every weekend we are kind of preparing and even during the weekdays. Sounds more fun, I guess?


Anyway, the initial plan was to have a ROM solemnization ceremony followed by a cocktail buffet at the Singapore Flyer event hall. Nice view of the Flyer and it’s unique! However after several rounds of discussion and being considerate for our many elderly and very young guests, the final decision is to have a sit-down wedding lunch banquet.
